** None of these are meant to be mean or hurtful they are simply things that go through our mind that we want you to know
1. We work our butts off!
This is not to sound mean or say that you don’t know that we do work hard, but sadly some people don’t realize how much of our day and heart go into capturing your moment in time and how perfect we want everything to be. Here’s a quick look into a photographers life, and no its not, point the camera, push the button and its perfect, if that were true this would be the job for everyone.
First off I check my email and if I have any emails from potential clients I return those first. Check my To Do List. This is super important for me because I need to stay on top of all my marketing, emails, product orders and scheduling. Once that has been achieved I move to the next thing. Staring at my photos for hours while I cull and edit the beautiful faces that flow across my screen. This is what we mean by behind the scenes work. I, as a photographer, take the time edit those blemishes and the hairs flying and the little things that I see. Once that’s finished we upload galleries and email them to our clients. While waiting for a response we ponder what is happening as the family, bride and groom, and friends are looking through the images that we put our heart and soul into making perfect. As we wait, we look up the newest features for our cameras and how it could make it better. We schedule new and returning clients, and create ads to promote the business we love so much. You’re paying for WAY more than just an hour. Initial consultation (1hr) Drive there/back (> 1.5hr), actual shoot (1hr), editing (3-5 hr). I know it feels like a one hour service, but it’s really much more than that and we enjoy every minute of it.
2. We can not make you look “more beautiful” or “skinny”.
“You can just photoshop that out right?” Control what you can. Check hair ties, hair, chipped nail polish, hair roots, bra straps, stained shirt etc.
You are beautiful, amazing, strong, a fighter, a lover, a giver, positive, thankful, tasteful, fashionable, a dad, a mom, a kid, a teenager, demanding, stubborn, thoughtful, wonderful, spirited, colorful, full of life, caring, family minded, meaningful and much more. You are who God created you to be. That’s what we see and that’s what we capture. We do everything we can to make you look your best by giving tips on anything from clothing to makeup. We’ve studied poses and ideas for not just one person but your whole family, or even your whole wedding party. You are you and that’s what we capture, so you have memories to look back on forever.
3. When you post your pictures give us some credit. Please.
Do you know how we mainly get clients? Word of mouth! Time and time again clients tell me that they heard about me from a friend or a vendor. I even give out names for different vendors all the time. So when you post our work just give us a tag. When your friends envy those prints tell them who you went to. It’s not because we want praise its because we love what we do and want to do it all the time. One tag to us could give us 5 clients. Trust me it’s happened and it means the world to us to know that you care and appreciate our work enough to even do so.
